Save To (Analysis window)The Save To drop-down box is where you specify the location for the .ELF subdirectory which will be created to hold your interface during the subsequent analysis operation. The value selected will also act as the default location for searching for available Views. In other words, Access ELF cannot keep track of interfaces no matter where they're scattered on your hard drive or network. Each Access ELF installation keeps a record of a single location in which it expects to find this information. There are essentially three choices for this location. The first, default choice is called "Access ELF Directory". It is a subdirectory called "ELF" immediately under the directory which contains your copy of the MS Access program, MSACCESS.EXE. On most systems this will be: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\ELF. The second choice is called "Current Directory". If this choice is selected, Access ELF will expect to find the interface subdirectories related to a given MDB in the same directory as the MDB file itself. This means that you have the option to store your View information --not in a single, centralized location -- but distributed throughout your file system, along with your MDB files. The third choice is to select an alternative, central location for your .ELF subdirectories. For example, you might want to place this information on a local or network drive if it contains more available free space than the drive holding your Program Files/Microsoft Office directory. To select a specific location for this purpose, type (or paste) a valid path into either the drop-down box's text box, or the more roomy "expansion" box below. (This box also serves to display the actual physical location of directories which are referred to by aliases such as "Current Directory".) Note that if the Expansion box is empty, it probably means that the directory specified does not exist. You will not be allowed to continue with the Analysis until this is corrected. In general, each Access ELF installation uses one of the above techniques for locating .ELF directories. In unusual situations, different .ELF directories may be located at arbitrary disk/network locations. It is also possible to set the View and "Save To" values programatically prior to starting an analysis. See the Express Unattended topic for details.
